ANCHORAGE - An Alaska state lawmaker was arrested Thursday on a federal bribery warrant.
Rep. Tom Anderson was arrested at his Anchorage home and was being held Thursday night at the city jail, FBI Special Agent Eric Gonzalez told The Associated Press.
The arrest stems from the recent raid of several lawmaker's offices. No other arrests were made, but Gonzalez said it was an ongoing investigation.
More information about Anderson's arrest was expected to be released by Department of Justice officials in Washington, D.C., Gonzalez said.
At the end of August, federal agents raided the offices of six Alaska legislators: Sen. John Cowdery, R-Anchorage; Sen. Ben Stevens, R-Anchorage; Rep. Vic Kohring, R-Wasilla; Rep. Bruce Weyhrauch, R-Juneau; Sen. Donald Olson, D-Nome; and Rep. Pete Kott, R-Eagle River.
One of the search warrants said investigators were looking for financial ties between the lawmakers and the oil field services company VECO Corp. Agents conducted office searches in both Juneau and Anchorage.
